In order to adjust the conference dates to the changed university practices – which nowadays in large parts of Europe include prolonged exam periods that extend well into July – and to avoid the inconveniences connected to the European football championship (UEFA Euro 2024) that takes place in June and July 2024 in Germany, the Executive Committee has agreed to move the conference to a date in September; it will take place from 16 to 20 September 2024 in the main building of the University of Leipzig at Augustusplatz.
The team of organisers strives to keep the conference fees at a reasonable level and are currently preparing a number of applications to secure additional funding for the conference. Since the rules of an important funding body, the German Research Foundation (DFG), regarding the funding of conferences, require a list of speakers and their respective papers to be submitted well ahead of the actual event, a non-binding expression of your intention to attend the conference and a provisional topic for your paper would be very much appreciated.
Leipzig is a historic town and a vibrant cultural centre with the Museum of Fine Arts, the Grassimuseum and the Bach Museum; the city has a lot to offer, especially in the field of music. Furthermore, Leipzig is situated only one hour train ride from Berlin, so you may be interested in combining your conference participation in Leipzig with a stopover in Berlin to visit the famous Museum Island and the new Humboldt Forum. Our team will provide more detailed information about available accommodations as well as travel to and within Leipzig in due time; if you need any advance information to plan your trip or apply for funds with your home institution, please do not hesitate to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We hope to welcome you all in Leipzig next year!
